Davies Out of the Hospital
If you're in search of some good news to lift your spirits after a rough day at work, look no further. Charlie Davies, who suffered numerous injuries in a tragic car accident almost one month ago, has been released from the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC.
Davies underwent numerous surgeries to treat fractures in his tibia, femur, elbow, and face, plus a procedure to treat a lacerated bladder, all of which were sustained during the crash. Now, he is out of the hospital and will spend the coming months recovering and rehabbing. Fortunately, several members of the NRH staff, such as director of orthopaedic trauma James DeBritz, are optimistic about Davies' recovery and rehab.
Davies said in a statement, "I would like to take the time to thank everyone who has dealt with me in the Hospital Center and NRH for really putting in the time to help me get better as a person and as an athlete."
He went on to say, "I continue to improve every day, and I look forward to getting back on my feet and attacking rehabilitation." Davies also thanked those who have shown him support along the way.
Though we still do not know for sure how soon Charlie will be back or if he'll be able to play at the same level he did before the accident, it's just great to hear that he is getting better and on his way back to leading a normal life. Keep fighting Charlie, we're all behind you.
