Donovan Loan to Everton Would Be Filled With Big Games

Ives Galarcep is reporting that Landon Donovan's three month loan to Everton is a done deal, though neither club has confirmed the move. The LA Galaxy have gone so far as to issue a statement that the deal is not done, and that Everton are just one of a number of teams inquiring about their captain's services. Nevertheless, Soccer By Ives is still standing by the statement that the deal is finished.

Assuming this deal is finalized, Donovan would join the Toffees in January. The three month stint would feature matches in the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the knockout stages of the Europa League. There are a number of marquee Premier League matchups in this brief spell, including:

Everton @ Arsenal, January 9th
Everton v. Manchester City, January 16th
Everton @ Liverpool, February 6th
Everton v. Chelsea, February 10th
Everton v. Manchester United, February 20th
Everton @ Tottenham, February 27th
Everton v. Hull City, March 6th

If Donovan heads to Goodison Park, he would get the opportunity to face 6 of the top 7 teams in the Premier League standings, with one of those games being the Merseyside Derby at Anfield. He will also get a chance to play against USMNT teammate Jozy Altidore at the beginning of March.

So while many fans may be worried about Donovan's possible loan move to England, there's no denying that the stint would be filled with numerous opportunities to square off against big name opponents. Though many will still surely worry about the physicality of the Premiership, they can at least take solace in the fact that Donovan will have the chance to face the very best England has to offer in the span of just three months. It's hard not to get excited about those possibilities.

USSD will keep you updated and let you know once a Donovan loan to deal (to Everton or possibly some other team) is finalized.
