Altidore Impacted By Earthquake in Haiti
The massive earthquake that rocked Port-au-Prince late Tuesday night has left countless Haitians and Haitian-Americans scrambling to get any type of communication with loved ones on the island, as many fear for the worst. Jozy Altidore, born to Haitian immigrants, is no different, with uncles and cousins still unaccounted for. He has been pushing for donations and support via his Twitter feed, and he also appeared on CNN last night to discuss the situation:
It's a heartbreaking story regardless, but it may be one that USMNT fans take even closer to heart given how close it's hitting one of the team's most popular players.
Of all the countries this disaster could have hit, Haiti is one of the worst, just because their utter lack of infrastructure, government presence, and medical facilities has added another degree of difficulty to an already exceedingly difficult challenge.
There are plenty of ways to donate, but here are a few quick ones:
Text "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5 to Haiti earthquake relief efforts from YeleHaiti
Text "Haiti" to 90999 to donate $10 to Red Cross International Relief
Every little bit helps.
