Final 30-Man Roster Prediction

We should know the official list of 30 in 24 hours or so, so I figured I'd give my final, revised prediction for who will get the call from Bob Bradley (* indicates a player that I think will not be in camp):

Goalkeepers (4):

Tim Howard
Marcus Hahnemann
Brad Guzan
Nick Rimando*

Defenders (9):

Carlos Bocanegra
Jay DeMerit
Clarence Goodson
Oguchi Onyewu
Jonathan Spector
Steve Cherundolo
Jonathan Bornstein
Heath Pearce
Frankie Hejduk*

Midfielders (11):

Landon Donovan
Clint Dempsey
Stuart Holden
Benny Feilhaber
Michael Bradley
Ricardo Clark
Maurice Edu
Jose Francisco Torres
Alejandro Bedoya
DaMarcus Beasley
Freddy Adu

Forwards (6):

Jozy Altidore
Charlie Davies
Brian Ching
Herculez Gomez
Edson Buddle
Conor Casey

The first guy outside of this 30?  Eddie Johnson.  He has put together a strong stretch of performances with Aris and has had a solid strike rate in that time, but it might just be too little, too late.  With Herculez Gomez and Edson Buddle going on their respective runs this spring and with Charlie Davies returning to full health, there just isn't much room for Eddie to get in the mix.  I could see him getting the call in place of Conor Casey, who will only get the call to South Africa if Brian Ching is not healthy (in which case, he could replace Ching despite not being in the preliminary 30-man roster).  We shall see, I suppose; it was really a coin flip decision for me.

Frankie Hejduk is a bit of a surprise, I'll admit, particularly after his awful showing in Aarhus back in November.  But when you look at the group of eight defenders outside of Hejduk (who I believe will be the ones going to South Africa), RB actually ends up being the spot with the least depth, with only Spector and Cherundolo playing there with club or country in recent times.  With Frank Simek being rooted to the bench at Sheffield Wednesday for months, the only experienced option that comes to mind is Hejduk.  With that being said, I don't expect him to be in the World Cup roster, and I wouldn't want him to given the USMNT's red card reputation and his wild two-footed tackles.  But Bob will probably want an emergency option, and Hejduk can fill that role.

Also, Freddy Adu has quietly been doing some good things in Greece, and DaMarcus Beasley's struggles at Rangers may help the Aris midfielder sneak into the conversation for wing midfield depth.

I for one just can't wait until it is officially announced; it seems like we've been waiting for this day for ages.

I agree with your 30 man roster 100%. With the allowance of 30 players by fifa and the injuries sustained by the USMT, Coach BB should bring all 30 players. EJ is probably a better forward than Casey and Bedoya and Beasley should not be picked over Adu. Holden should not go unless he is 100%. all in all I hope BB utilizes 30 players.

Holden is a lock healthy or not. Bedoya should get a chance to prove himself over Casey and Ching

I think Johnson SHOULD get the nod over Chingy based of his play in Greece. He has slowly become a much needed player at Aris and nodding in the header this past weekend could move his stock up the ladder on BB's list, but in 7 hrs we will all know the fate of the team. 30-men will be singing in the rain today, while all the other potentials will be cursing BB's name lol..
